General Anakin Skywalker Deep Dive in English
General Anakin Skywalker is a highly gifted student of the Jedi Order. Born a slave boy on Tatooine, he earned the favor of the Jedi Council through discipline and the excellent training of his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. With his extraordinary Force sensitivity, it seems only a matter of time before he is going to be promoted to Jedi Master possibly even by Master Mace Windu himself!
Some even whisper that he may be the Chosen One, destined to bring balance to the Force. Considering Anakin’s unshakable composure, that might not come as a surprise. After all, he wouldn’t harm a fly let alone women and children.
General Anakin Skywalker
Role: General Anakin Skywalker is a heavy hitter especially in close combat. He hits hard and deals a lot of damage. With a well-executed attack, he can turn the tide of a match that seemed already lost just as you'd expect from the true Chosen One.
Ability Ratings:
C+ Force Jump
This is an important ability for Anakin, as he wants to get into melee as quickly as possible. However, it's also his only tool for additional movement, and it comes with a hefty price of 1 Force as a base cost. That makes it valuable, but somewhat limited.
A+ I Will Do What I Must
This ability is incredibly strong and arguably Anakin's most important tool—alongside his Identity. Gaining an additional melee attack can have a huge impact. Two attacks can, for example, push two enemy characters off a mission objective or even wound them.
B– Deflect
A nice thematic ability for a lightsaber wielder. Primarily, it serves as a passive deterrent against ranged attacks. Once it starts costing Force, however, it becomes very situational—especially since Anakin needs his Force points elsewhere.
A+ Now This is Where the Fun Begins
This ability is the essence of Anakin in Shatterpoint. His goal is to wound Primary units in order to move the Conflict Token. Additionally, if he wounds a Primary or Secondary unit, he gets to Sprint all Republic Secondary and Support units. He also regains 1 Force point—but really, it's all about the Conflict Token movement and those critical Sprints.
Stats:
Anakin consistently has good to very good stats. While he comes with 7 SP, he also brings 4 Force points. With 11 Stamina, he's quite tanky—especially when in "Shien." "Shien" is the combat stance used defensively. Thanks to three pushes on the first three results, however, it can also be used very effectively to clear enemy characters off mission objectives.
"Djem So" is the combat stance Anakin is most often found in. With 10 damage and lots of critical hits in the attack expertise, Anakin shows his dark side here to trigger “Now This is Where the Fun Begins.” On top of that, “Force Smash” gives him a ranged attack—something rarely seen with Republic Jedi.
The only real downside is the lack of conditions in his combat trees.
Strategy:
Anakin wants to create “big swings”—that is, to wound both Primary and Secondary units. In a perfect activation, he wounds a Secondary unit with his first attack, uses “I Will Do What I Must” to follow up and wound a Primary unit. Then, as the favored player, you move the conflict token and gain a momentum token. Ideally, the Sprints also give you opportunities to take control of mission objectives. In true Chosen One fashion, this can swing a seemingly lost game back in your favor.
Primary Combinations
A+ Ki-Adi-Mundi & Anakin:
Ki-Adi boosts Anakin’s mobility and adds essential diceless displacement (i.e., moving enemies without needing to roll). Plus, his Identity makes the strike team more Force-efficient.
A General Obi-Wan Kenobi & Anakin:
Obi-Wan’s Identity makes Anakin tankier and gives him out-of-activation movement options.
Secondary Combinations
A+ Captain Rex & Anakin:
Rex and Anakin are a great match—not just in lore. Anakin loves Rex’s Tactical Ability. He wants to be moved, and he’ll happily take a Hunker token too. Rex is a versatile all-rounder.
B- Padawan Ahsoka & Anakin:
Ahsoka can move Anakin with her Tactical ability but is also independent enough to pursue her own goals.
Support Combinations
A+ ARF Troopers & Anakin:
Anakin generally needs a 3-point Support unit, and there’s none better in that category than the ARFs. “Supporting Fire” is a great ability in general, but Anakin especially values the added mobility. The ARFs also have solid stats and can hold their own.
B- Padawans & Anakin:
The Padawans don’t hit particularly hard but offer great healing and can help clear mission objectives effectively.
Example of a strong strike team:
Anakin, Rex, ARFs / Ki-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Ti, Padawans
Conclusion:
Anakin gets an A-. He’s a heavy hitter with a single job: wreak havoc—and he’s excellent at it! However, if he fails to wound Primary or Secondary units, he has a very bad time. As Anakin’s opponent, your goal should be to force dead activations through diceless displacement and conditions.
May the Force be with you. Utinni!
